Databases Beginning with P
PAIS International 
PAIS (Public Affairs Information Service) indexes articles in the social sciences that bear on public policy, administration and law.
PEDro – Physiotherapy Evidence Database
PEDro is a free database of over 38,000 randomized trials (including helpful, independent quality ratings), systematic reviews and clinical practice guidelines in physiotherapy.
Perseus Digital Library
A library of digital images and electronic texts for the study of the humanities. Collections include: Art & Archaeology; Greek, Roman, and Latin Classics; The Renaissance; 19th Century America; and Bolles History of London.
Pew Research Center
A nonpartisan "fact tank" that provides information on the issues, attitudes and trends that are shaping America and the world. It conducts public opinion polling, demographic research, media analysis and empirical social science research.
Philosopher's Index 
An article index covering all fields of philosophy, epistemology, ethics, logic, aesthetics, axiology, social and political philosophy, as well as the philosophies of education, history, language, science, and religion.
PILOTS 
Published International Literature on Traumatic Stress, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, indexes and abstracts literature on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other mental-health consequences of traumatic events.
Plants Database (USDA)
Provides standard information on the vascular plants, mosses, liverworts, hornworts, and lichens of the U.S. and its territories. Includes names, symbols, distributional data, species abstracts, characteristics, images, references, etc.
Play Index (H.W. Wilson) (EBSCO) 
This unique resource covers classic and historical plays, along with the works of contemporary playwrights. Play Index covers new editions and translations, and includes descriptive annotations to summarize the plot and indicate musical requirements.
Points of View Reference Center (EBSCO) 
Containing resources that present multiple sides of an issue, this database provides rich content that can help students assess and develop persuasive arguments and essays, better understand controversial issues and develop analytical thinking skills.
Political Americana Collection
A Cornell University database with images of Presidential promotional and commemorative items dating from 1789 to 1980. Included are prints, posters, pamphlets, buttons, ballots, broadsides, ribbons, cartoons, hats, textiles, music and more.
Political Posters Database
33,000 images of 20th century political posters from around the world digitized by the Hoover Institution of Stanford University.
Political Science 
A database offering access to hundreds of political science and international relations publications with nearly 500 in full text. Also covers: human rights, international development, migration, and environmental policy.
Presidential Recordings
From 1940 to 1973, six U.S. presidents secretly recorded nearly 5,000 hours of conversations. The University of Virginia has created a treasure trove of audio files and selected transcripts illuminating the Civil Rights Era, Vietnam and more.
Presidential Speeches
The University of Virginia, in cooperation with presidential libraries, has begun collecting important U.S. Presidential speeches. Transcripts are available for all speeches in the database, and some are available in audio or video.
Primary Search 
Designed for elementary students, Primary Search includes the full text of 80 popular elementary magazines. All full-text articles are assigned a reading level indicator (Lexile number). Also provides thousands of photos, maps and flags.
Prints & Photographs
A Library of Congress catalog of its photographs, fine art and popular prints, drawings, and posters with 1.2 million digitized. While international in scope, the collections are rich in materials documenting America and American lives.
Professional Development Collection 
Designed for professional educators, this database offers 520 high-quality education journals, with nearly 350 peer-reviewed, and more than 200 educational reports.
Project Gutenberg
A database of over 40,000 electronic books and texts, including historically important documents and classic authors such as Shakespeare and Dickens. Offers editions for on-screen reading or download.
ProQuest Databases 
Simultaneously search or select from ProQuest databases, including: ebooks, business databases, social sciences and education databases, dissertations and theses, and nursing and allied health literature.
PsycArticles (EBSCO)  
A robust database offering access to the full text of over 80 landmark journals in behavioral sciences and related fields ranging from education, to nursing, to business, to neuroscience.
PsycINFO (EBSCO) 
PsycINFO is an index of peer-reviewed literature in the behavioral sciences and mental health fields. Also includes related disciplines such as medicine, law, social work, neuroscience, business, nursing, forensics, engineering, and more.
PsycTests (EBSCO) 
An American Psychological Association database offering thousands of ready-to-use tests, instruments and measures. International in scope, the majority of tests are available for immediate download and use in teaching and research.
Psychology & Behaviorial Sciences Collection (EBSCO) 
Psychology & Behavioral Sciences Collection provides access to hundreds of full-text journals and offers particularly strong coverage in child and adolescent psychology and various areas of counseling.

A National Center for Biotechnology Information database providing the chemical structures of small organic molecules and their biological activities. Also offers a fast chemical structure similarity search tool.
PubMed 
The National Library of Medicine's database of 22 million citations in biomedical literature from MEDLINE, life science journals, and online books. With new weekly entries, PubMed is more current than MEDLINE and offers additional life science journals.
